MEP Manager (Qatar)

 Job Description:

Our client that provides real estate and infrastructure project management services is seeking to hire a MEP Manager. The candidate should have a degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University.
He should also have 10-12 years of related experience and at least 4 years in a comparable position.
The candidate should have the knowledge and experience with design of large scale MEP systems and infrastructure.
He should be fluent in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
GCC experience on large in interdisciplinary Projects is a must.
Experience in all kind of high valued projects like Pump Stations Projects, Waste Water Projects.
Experience in the construction of large industrial or infrastructural projects is highly preferred
The candidate should be experienced in dealing with other employees and internal clients. He should also be confident and have a proactive character, with a track record of taking the lead in challenging situations,
The candidate should have the ability to run comprehensive MEP projects successfully.
He should be a firm leader and advisor to his team at any time.
Main Responsibilities:
·         Provides direction and management of all MEP related issues in accordance with contractual obligations.
·         The MEP Manager is responsible for the support of other involved manager of the project to meet project goals and objectives.
·         Plan, organize and supervise the work of the MEP team members to ensure all work is performed within the parameters of the project schedule.
 Key Accountabilities:
·         Review the MEP Services and Infrastructure drawings, reports and specifications submitted by the Design Consultant for each listed utility at each Design Stage to ensure completeness, correctness and compliance with the approved Scope of Work (SOW) and defined Employer Requirements (ERs).
·         Assess and seek clarification on constructability during early Design stages.
·         Liaise with MEP engineering team in the office for engineering support and control.
·         Review alternatives to the Design concept submitted by the Design Consultant(s).
·         Coordinate report and defend all engineering ideas internally. Keep abreast of technical development, relevant regulations and industry best practice.
·         Progress monitoring of related designs in collaboration with the design time schedule
·         Project Management team constantly informed as to changes made in the field to ensure timely processing of contract change orders
·         Supporting project managers in design related issues
·         Have complete knowledge of : drawings, specifications, general contracts and time schedules
·         Plan, organize and supervise the work of the MEP team members to ensure all work is performed within the parameters of the project schedule.
·         Coordinate with the local authorities and third parties related to all necessary MEP requirements for the project.
·         Ensure all design works are comprehensive and discussed with the various engineers for the best implementation and installation of services in coordination with other parties and contractor.
·         Manage/Coordinate quality checks in liaison with the QA Manager.
·         Review and monitor the test schedules.
·         May participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies in public meetings to support the client.
·         Provides input to performance reviews and development plans for subordinates.
·         Field responsibilities may include labor relations and local procurement etc. if required.
·         Works with other managers, project engineers and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules and plans for the various elements of the project. Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
·         Initiate risk assessment of utilities projects, review and endorse risk assessment results and recommend course of action to ensure mitigation of risks.
·         Attend final inspections on completed projects, initiate “Contract Completion Certificates” and “Handover Certificates” after checking back-punch list items have been cleared by the contractor in order to complete and submit the project documentation dossier.
·         Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
·         Providing technical support for the design team.
·         Develop and follow up tasks and duties for all members of the MEP team.
·         Preparation of drafts decisions to be approved by the upper management.
·         Approval of design reviews of MEP design.
·         Preparation, performance and reports of team meetings.
·         Coordination with design managers and developer design interface coordinators.
·         Reviewing technical proposal & specification documentation. Review and evaluate tenders and make recommendations to tender committee on suitability of contracts.
·         Review completeness of Tender Documents, ensuring full compliance with Employer Requirements prior to issue Tender.
·         Participate in response to bidders clarifications and attend Technical Meetings along with PM and Design Consultants bidders during Tender stage.
·         Interface coordination with Public Realm/ Landscape, Roads, Structures and Other Utilities (e.g. substations).
·         Monitoring of design process regarding compliance with design time schedule.
·         Establishing acceleration measures in case of any delay if required.
